Abstract

With the growing awareness of environmental protection, the disposal of any form of hazardous waste has become a major concern for the industrial sector. The recovery of precious metals can be successfully achieved from waste, considered to be secondary sources of raw materials. Precious metals are used in a wide range of applications, both in electronic and communications equipment, engines for spacecraft and jets, and for mobile phones or catalytic converters. The project entitled: Implementation of platinum group metal recovery technology contained in automotive catalysts (AUTOCAT), addresses Domain 3. Eco-nano-technologies and advanced materials, 3.2 Depollution technologies, because the project results materialize in the implementation of a technology by which car catalysts are fully recycled, thereby helping to reduce environmental pollution. The aim of the project is to extend the recovery of waste containing noble metals from the platinum group, by transferring and implementing their recovery technology from used car catalysts or ceramic catalysts from the chemical, petrochemical, etc. industry noble metals.

Targets/Objectives

The main objective is to expand the capacity to recover noble metals from the platinum group from various catalysts in the automotive industry. In order to achieve the proposed goal, the following secondary objectives will be taken into account:
O1. Optimization of chemical laboratory technology
O2. Adaptation and transfer of laboratory technology to existing technology
O3. Optimization of the purification of the obtained noble metals
